It was only by accident that I came to know of the Annual Fireworks Festival in Den Haag in Aug 2015, as there was SAIL going on in Amsterdam at the same time. The festival happens over 4 evenings over two weekends, with two firework shows every evening.
Teams from eight countries display the most vivid creations of colour and light with accompanying music in an effort to outdo each other and take home the award of being the Best Fireworks. I could only go to the last evening of the show when China and Spain had their fireworks. For me, this was the first time I have seen any fireworks like this – coordinated, synchronised, colorful and serene at the same time.
Spain eventually ended up winning the festival, out of the eight countries, and I was just lucky to capture it in my camera. Since this was the first time I had ever photographed fireworks and hence wasn’t prepared or aware about the situation – where to position myself, how much crowds to expect, where will the best view be, etc etc – the photographs aren’t very good, and I know I could have captured better shots from different viewpoints. I am sure I will be back with much better photos next year.
Great photos. The first and last photos were well centered, and personally, I liked them all.
